Finally! Something to Review. Tyga seems like the first Emcee at bat in 2012 with “Careless World” and it took all the way to February to get a hip hop album released, this year isn’t looking so good for hip hop music, but I digress. If you don’t know who Tyga is, he’s one of many Lil Wayne’s minions of the label he calls Young Money or YMCMB. The clique was the hottest in the bizz untill, Rick Ross maybach team assembled and Kanye West G.O.O.D Music crew started dominating the mixtape scene. Nothing more but mediocre music coming from the team in recent months, but can Tyga put the team on his back make a hit album? This is Tyga’s sophomore album but 1st under Lil Wayne’s label and with help from Nas, Pharell and productions from Polow Da Don, J.Cole and Boi-1da, seems like his has the tools to make a hit record but can the minion stand out as King as he so proclaims?

Tyga, is  one of the few artist of the Young Money camp that actually raps and not using gimmicks to appeal to the masses and it’s sad to see this album is going through a little controversy at the moment. If they all would take this blueprint, they would be better off and respected a lot more. I was honestly expecting the typical young money sound, which is there, but nowhere near as much as I anticipated. You can tell Tyga took his time with this project and not shove any shit out for the sells and it shows in a quality album. and he got a great production that he complemented well. You take a track like “Lil Homie” Featuring the producer Pharell, is a hot record.  You hear that hunger in those verses of making it to the top through the odds and people trying to take his shine away. Not alot of young Emcee have possessed and Pharell is the icing on the cake, can’t really go wrong with Skateboard P. He also goes into those randoms tracks that are about absolutely nothing such as “Muthafucka Up,” “Rack City,” and “Faded” with Wayne. Then you hear a hot track like “I’m Gone” with Big Sean and my opinion of  Tyga flips within a switch of the tracks. One track he’s dope, next track he’s wack. He even got me to like a T-Pain song, I haven’t liked a song with T-Pain on it since “Good Life” which is “Celebration” with is a cool party record. One thing he has that more mainstream artist need is the balance of music to appeal to multiple fans which Tyga executed well. He has track for fans of rappers who rap, which some people feels it’s a ironic statement, but not every emcee raps nowadays, they will carry bland verses to a catchy hook. He also has mainstream appeal record that’ll get the commercial fans.

The best features are J.Cole on “Let it Show” which is a hot ass record and Nas and Wale on “Kings and Queen” where the two steal the show.  ”Stupid Hoe” Nicki Minaj gives you here typical slut bars and Wayne still riding off his fame giving half ass bars still, which people just now realizing the two aren’t as great as they believed. Cons on the album is for every hot track is two wack ones. Too long as well, if your not a lyrical genius, having that many tracks with no standout rhymes makes half of this album irrelevant and it is.  Also his with 15 plus tracks, you can get redundant with your rhymes and Tyga is more than redundant on this album. The production is a toss up, some are great and some sound like some Kanye knock-offs and beats made for Drake that he turn down and Tyga picked up. It’s diverse so I’ll give him credit for that and not all of them are just some bass driven tracks or for the club.

Overall, this is a decent album to start the year off with. If your a Young Money fan, then I highly recommend it. Some of their best material, to some I know that’s not saying much, but if you a fan, then you will appropriate this album. To everyone else, if your craving for some new music, I’ll give you some recommended tracks from the album that are great and might surprise you. It’s not a bad album, but has a lot of bad tracks compared to the good ones that make it worth the listen. So if your willing to dig through shit to get some gold then you’ll be satisfied. I know the album has just been pulled from stores due to a Martin Luther King sample which can hurt it’s sells a little, but not too major. Hopefully, it get settle soon because, I actually enjoy some of the album and feel Tyga actually has something to offer. He just need to stop rocking them silk shirts, looking like my Dad in the 90′s, but that’s another story. If you’re a fan of his get this album or looking for some good material, give this a try. If you truly despise this guy, then I would tell you guys to pass on this album, because this album won’t convert you. Tyga may be the one of the few Young Money artist to take this shit seriously. Hopefully this album is a sign of things to come from the label. One thing for sure, he damn sure ain’t a king.

Two out of five

Recommended Tracks: Lil Homie, Kings and Queens, Let It Show, I’m Gone, Celebration, Do it All

Dude you need to be objective and unbiased if you need us fans to take your site serious. The album is solid, and surely deserve more than 2 crowns. You didnt do well in hiding your resentment for YM.

are you an idiot, this album was fantastic, you must not have gotten the concept of album, he begins talking about his teen years and moves on about his girl she saying he’s not ready so he left (to rap) then he experiences the fame in “rack city” then his girl comes back then his life fcks up…the girl dies, he reminisces, then he closes you out. give respect were due come on.
P.S. the punch lines here are AMAZING
